Last year on Assumption Day I was leading a group of pilgrims on a sacred journey to Grece, where we visited a multitude of holy and miraculous places.
On the island of Kefalonia, on Assumption Day took place not one, but two miracles. In the village of Markopoulos, in the church of Panagia of Langouvarda serpents that have a small cross on their head appear seemingly out of nowhere and fill the church of the Virgin in order to celebrate her. They are harmless and they are all over priests’ hands, on the Bible and on the icons. The snakes show no fear while the services are held in the church and are harmless during the festivities. As soon as the Liturgy service concludes on the 15th of August, they become hostile and aggressive and disappear back into the wilderness. The snakes cannot be found until the following year.
In the Holy Church of Panaghia Gravaliotissa of the Lilies and the Archangels in the village of PastraMay of each year, women of the island pick lilies and place them on an icon of the Virgin Mary, and these dried lillies fully blossom again, only on Assumption Day.
I believe we still live in a world full of miracles were the Creator, the divine feminine, the angels, the masters and all saints are present among us embracing us with love and compassion.
